Last week was a beautiful day so a friend and I went out to photograph the 8th. We started at a park near St. Lazare and worked our way back down past Madeline to Concord. After reaching Concord we worked our way back past St. Honore where we stumbled upon several 'open houses' at jewelry shops up and down the street. Every 10 mins or so a bell went off and Tango dancers came outside and danced. I was using some Ilford 400 and about halfway through the day the battery on my camera stopped working. We started looking for a place to buy some new ones but after playing around with the ones that I already had for a bit I got them working again and we continued on. On two of the photos you can see the battery problems. I should be heading out tomorrow or Thursday for my next shoot.

The 15th, 16th and a shoot in Denver
Once again I've fallen behind on my updates. Since the weather has started to get nicer I have ventured out more and more to different Arrondissements. My next trip was out to the 16th, walking around on a pretty nice day. It was sunny and not too cold. I stayed mostly near the river. I got some good shots including a lot of the Eiffel tower from across the river.
The week after that I decided to keep with the them of the Eiffel tower and shoot the 15th. This time I also suck near the river but the day was not as sunny and nice. I was not as adventurous as to before to take pictures of the people who were out and about, but I feel I got some good photos still the same. Those were the last two that I was able to do before leaving for Denver. On my trip to Denver I decided to take my camera with me and try to do some shoots while I was there. I got a hold of model who had just gotten back to Denver from college and we decided to do a shoot together. We both agreed on what we wanted to try to do some photos of. The day went well and I got a lot of photos that I liked, however my camera did not want to focus on what I wanted it to. As I said I did however get some good ones but would have liked to have had more and I did figure some things out.

The 20th
A few weeks ago I tried to photograph the 20th. It was a bit of a cold day out so I knew that it wasn't going to be the funnest experience. I started of in the Chinese district and moved up to a park that had a really nice view of the Eiffel Tower. From there I wondered around a bit and ended up at Pere Lachaise Cemetery. I got some nice photos before it started to snow and headed home. On my way back I noticed that I 'took' about 40 photos on a role that should have only had 36, I can usually get a few extra but not 40. I checked my role only to find out that it got jammed when I loaded it and none of the photos came out.A week later I decided to redo my shoot and headed back out. As this was my second time in the 20th I had some ideas of where I wanted to go. I took mostly the same path as I had the week before but made sure to save some film to take photos at the Pere Lachaise.
One more done only....16 to go...

The 12th
Today I added the 12th to my list. I had lunch with a friend down by the train station of Lyon in the 12th. Since I was already there I decided to take my photos in the 12th. My friend was late so I started taking some photos at the train station. After lunch I started my walk. There was a nice above ground park the lead away from the train station. I fallowed that park until it ended and found another park that I have never seen before. It turns out that the 12th was alot bigger than I expected and walked for about an hour before I had to turn around and start exploring. I found some nice places to take some photos (I will be exploring them later with a model or two). I then went to get a coffee at a cafe and to take photos of people that walk by. I ended up bumping into some old coworkers. There was nothing really to take any photos of so I moved on. I later found myself over by Bercy park to finish my role. I will be developing my role tomorrow.

Website Updates
I have decided to update my website (finnaly, I know). So far I have only updated the photos on the Digital page as well as updated my About page. On the About page I have added a link to my Facebook page (Kealan Wardle) and have added a twitter account as well @kealansphotos. I will be updating the other pages soon.
This is exciting!

Finally another shoot!
It's been a while since I've done some photos but I finally got my act together and got back on to the saddle (that's and expression right?) Julia (a model that I have worked with before) wanted to update her portfolio and asked me to do some photos for it. We had talked before about doing something different, outdoors, maybe on some train tracks. The weather here has not been at its best so we ended up doing an indoor shoot. We were kind of rushed with it but I think we are both happy with what we got out of it. I'm looking forward to doing another shoot soon!

The first of Paris!
Last week I came up with an idea, an idea that would force me to see more of Paris and to discover places that I have yet to discover.
Rules: I have to visit each arrondissement in Paris.
I have only one day for each of them.
I must use only one full role of film each.
Today I visited the 1st arrondissement of Paris, started on L'Ile de Cite and moved my way across the Louvre and up past Les Halles. This was my first attempt at this so I was a little afraid about spacing the photos. I didn't want to use them all too quickly but I had to finish my role before I went home. On this role I got a lot more photos of the building and sculptures than I hope to get in future arrondissements. I hope for the next role I will get more candid photos of tourists and locals.

Niki
After I did photos with Julia she introduced me to a friend of her's who is also a model and suggested that we did photos together. She invited me to a party that her friend was having and lets just say it was an interesting first impression. To be fair it was her party, but she couldn't decided if she wanted to work with me or not. Through out the evening it went from her not wanting to work with me, to her really wanting to work with me but couldn't, to "so when are we going to do a shoot?" I thought I would give a second meeting a try so we got drinks and talked about if she really wanted to do photos with me or not. We decided to try to do a shoot in a cafe that belonged to a friend of mine. My idea was to get there before it opened and do some darker black & white photos with no body else in the bar.
I got a hold of my friend and we were given an hour before they opened and an extra hour outside before Niki (the model) had to run off to work. When we met for the photos my friend was late so we did a few photos outside while we waited. We then went in and did some photos for about half an hour and then went back to her place and did a few more before she went to work. It was rushed but I get some that I wanted. I will see if we can get together again and do some more when we both have some more free time.

Photos in the park with Julia
Last week I met up with a model about doing some photos. After doing the photos of Liv jumping in Denver I got excited about changing my style a little, trying to do something that I haven't done before. When we met I didn't really know what to ask for because even I didn't know what I wanted. We sat down for a coffee and when over different ideas. We decided to do some photo in Parc St. Cloud just outside of Paris. The idea was to do something that didn't really belong in the park. Some dressed up shots and some dressed drown shots. She also asked if we could also schedule a shoot with her and her boyfriend copying some clothing adds that she liked.
We got to the park and starting doing photos of her in lingerie with a raincoat over it, hinting with the color underneath. 15 mins into the shoot she stepped on and got stung by a bee and I had to run to the pharmacy get some anti-itchy cream before we could continue. The day went well but she was kind of tired after the bee sting.
A few days later we did the shoot with her and her boyfriend. For the adds that we wanted to duplicate I had to use my flash (which I usually am not a fan of), the photos went really well. They had a good time and I think we got some good photos out of it.
On a side note I got a letter from Crossroads Clothing Company. I happened to win second place in the contest!

Trip to Denver and Photos with Liv
I recently returned to Denver to prepare and open my art gallery at Red Rocks Community College. I arrived just under a week before the exhibit was to open and spent a lot of my time buying and cutting mats. The opening day went off well, finishing everything just in time. Not that many people showed up but did get to see a lot of my friends. I think they all enjoyed themselves. I just would have been nice if some people showed up that had heard about the show but didn't know me. The photos will be up for two more weeks so I'm hoping they will a lot of traffic. I received an email being informed that there would be an article in a local paper about my exhibit.
Part of my plan for my trip was to meet up with a Denver model and try to add something different to my porfolio. I had gotten a hold of a few before I left; one about b&w and something different and interesting with the other. Long story short they both canceled along with about four other models that I had contacted. Liv then told me that she was interested in doing photos together and we set up a shoot. I went out and bought balloons only to walk out and find it raining. I thought that if I didn't call her than she would have to cancel and if she called too late I would have already been there and therefor too late to cancel. I had driven for a short while when I received the text asking if we should cancel. I lied about how bad the weather was were I was and hoped for the best.

Marianne & Sophie
A couple of months ago I did a photo shot with a friend from work (Sophie) that I have done photos with before. She had a good time the last time that we did photos so we decided to try again. The problem with that night was that we did not have a lot of time to do the photos so it felt kind of rushed. We did some photos outside before it got too dark and too cold, then moved indoors. For this shoot we decided to do photos that were a little 'racier' than last time because we both felt like trying something different; no nudes, just less clothing than usual. It was fun but somewhat rushed. I had plans for a movie after but this was the only time that we were both free so we took advantage of that free time. I took many photos with my Canon 60D (too many) as well as a few with my Pentax (it was too dark to use it a lot). I used part of a role that I started with Caroline, and finished it off today (should get them back tomorrow). I haven't looked at all of the photos yet from that photo shoot and would have to talk to her before posting any to make sure she is OK with the one(s) that I would select.
Yesterday I did a photo shoot with a friend (Marianne) who I had not seen in a while. She texted me last week saying that she wanted to do photos. She had a pair of shoes that she wanted to show off (Christian Louboutin), I wanted to show of her eyes. We got lucky and had a really nice day (cold but sunny). We started at Parc de Bercy and walked down along the Seine and ended up on a bridge before we called it a day and went home because it was too cold. She was a great model to work with, full of smiles and looked like she had a really good time. Did a lot of photos with the 60D, finished off the B&W from Caroline shoot, and started a new role of Kodak 400vc.

Been a while
Ok, I know it's been a while but I haven't really taken that many photos recently. I did get my new 'baby' and have used it a bit at work but haven't really used it much since then. A couple of weeks ago I used it at the "Occupy Wallstreet" protest in Paris. I think I got some good photos, but I haven't really looked at them. It did get a little crazy when we got chased by the police and pushed aside.
Today I did have a proper photo shoot with a model that I met on ModelMayhem.com. A friend of mine (Amanda) helped me by doing the make up. We did some shots in the metro and in the cemetery. I used my 60D and my pentax ME super. With the pentax I finished off my role of 160vc and started an Ilford 100. Still debating weather or not to develop the color film now or wait until i finish off the B&W.

My new baby
I finally grew up and got myself a new digital camera. I wanted to get one that would last me a while and something that wasn't just a nice camera but actually a really good camera. Kendal offered me her old camera if I wanted to pay to get it fixed, but after I played with her replacement camera...I couldn't take it. I ended up getting her replacement camera: a Canon 60D! It's so pretty, I love it!
Yesterday I went out and took some photos with it and had so much fun. It's nice to have a nice camera who's photos can be seen right away. I still love film and will keep taking cameras with my Pentax but it's nice to have two options for cameras.

Working on my portfolio
Since I just got back a large number of photos I decided to finalize my model portfolio. I decided that it might be a good idea to get a portfolio together to take over the the design school and try to get some work by talking to their stylists and models. I put together 20 photos of different models that I thought would go over well with a crowd from the design school. I tried to get a nice mix of photos together: high fashion, candid, nudes, different lighting...
It was difficult to narrow it down to 20 photos but I think I did a good job of picking the best ones. I printed them out on A4 paper (because I was told that they would fit the portfolio books nicely). I ended up getting a much larger book and will have to tape the photos in. All in all they all look really nice printed out in a large format.

Photos from Cannes & the 14th
I got my photos back from Cannes, the 14th as well as the fete de la musique the other day. While taking them I wasn't too sure about how I felt about them. When I got them back there were actually some that I really liked and others that I was just ok with. There was one of them that I could really like but there was someone's head in the way. All in all I think that my roles were well used. I liked both the black and white and the color ones.

Bastille Day!
Woke up early and went to see the parade in the morning to see what might be interesting to take photos of. It was a little difficult because there were so many people and not really anything that I wanted to photograph. There were a few photos that I took but I'm not expecting too much from. That night I went to see the fireworks after work, I finished late and could not make it to the Champs de Mars and thought I would take this as an opportunity to see them from a different angle. I started at the Louvre but could not see very well and started moving down towards Place de Concord. I think that I got some good photos all up and down the river but we will see. I used Kodak 400vc and Ilford B&W 3200. the light gauge on the B&W camera was acting funny so I'm not sure if they will come out.
I dropped off the film today, including the trip to Cannes.
Will get them back Monday

Cannes
Last week I took a trip down to Cannes for the weekend, because I have never been there and also because I felt that I had to leave Paris for a few days. I brought my camera with me and too a few pictures, but not many. We'll see how they turn out. I still have the photos from the Fete de la Musique to get developed as well.
