The first of Paris!

Last week I came up with an idea, an idea that would force me to see more of Paris and to discover places that I have yet to discover. Rules: I have to visit each arrondissement in Paris. I have only one day for each of them. I must use only one full role of film each. Today I visited the 1st arrondissement of Paris, started on L'Ile de Cite and moved my way across the Louvre and up past Les Halles. This was my first attempt at this so I was a little afraid about spacing the photos. I didn't want to use them all too quickly but I had to finish my role before I went home. On this role I got a lot more photos of the building and sculptures than I hope to get in future arrondissements. I hope for the next role I will get more candid photos of tourists and locals.

Niki

After I did photos with Julia she introduced me to a friend of her's who is also a model and suggested that we did photos together. She invited me to a party that her friend was having and lets just say it was an interesting first impression. To be fair it was her party, but she couldn't decided if she wanted to work with me or not. Through out the evening it went from her not wanting to work with me, to her really wanting to work with me but couldn't, to "so when are we going to do a shoot?" I thought I would give a second meeting a try so we got drinks and talked about if she really wanted to do photos with me or not. We decided to try to do a shoot in a cafe that belonged to a friend of mine. My idea was to get there before it opened and do some darker black & white photos with no body else in the bar. I got a hold of my friend and we were given an hour before they opened and an extra hour outside before Niki (the model) had to run off to work. When we met for the photos my friend was late so we did a few photos outside while we waited. We then went in and did some photos for about half an hour and then went back to her place and did a few more before she went to work. It was rushed but I get some that I wanted. I will see if we can get together again and do some more when we both have some more free time.

Photos in the park with Julia

Last week I met up with a model about doing some photos. After doing the photos of Liv jumping in Denver I got excited about changing my style a little, trying to do something that I haven't done before. When we met I didn't really know what to ask for because even I didn't know what I wanted. We sat down for a coffee and when over different ideas. We decided to do some photo in Parc St. Cloud just outside of Paris. The idea was to do something that didn't really belong in the park. Some dressed up shots and some dressed drown shots. She also asked if we could also schedule a shoot with her and her boyfriend copying some clothing adds that she liked. We got to the park and starting doing photos of her in lingerie with a raincoat over it, hinting with the color underneath. 15 mins into the shoot she stepped on and got stung by a bee and I had to run to the pharmacy get some anti-itchy cream before we could continue. The day went well but she was kind of tired after the bee sting. A few days later we did the shoot with her and her boyfriend. For the adds that we wanted to duplicate I had to use my flash (which I usually am not a fan of), the photos went really well. They had a good time and I think we got some good photos out of it. On a side note I got a letter from Crossroads Clothing Company. I happened to win second place in the contest!

Trip to Denver and Photos with Liv

I recently returned to Denver to prepare and open my art gallery at Red Rocks Community College. I arrived just under a week before the exhibit was to open and spent a lot of my time buying and cutting mats. The opening day went off well, finishing everything just in time. Not that many people showed up but did get to see a lot of my friends. I think they all enjoyed themselves. I just would have been nice if some people showed up that had heard about the show but didn't know me. The photos will be up for two more weeks so I'm hoping they will a lot of traffic. I received an email being informed that there would be an article in a local paper about my exhibit. Part of my plan for my trip was to meet up with a Denver model and try to add something different to my porfolio. I had gotten a hold of a few before I left; one about b&w and something different and interesting with the other. Long story short they both canceled along with about four other models that I had contacted. Liv then told me that she was interested in doing photos together and we set up a shoot. I went out and bought balloons only to walk out and find it raining. I thought that if I didn't call her than she would have to cancel and if she called too late I would have already been there and therefor too late to cancel. I had driven for a short while when I received the text asking if we should cancel. I lied about how bad the weather was were I was and hoped for the best.

Lido and Anais

Once again it has been a long time since I've added anything, I really need to update this more often. A few months ago I got myself really sick while doing a photo shoot. This does come around and make has to do with photography. So I was in bed for about two whole days not wanting to do anything. I had to recover quickly because a friend of mine arranged for me to be able to go back stage and take photos at the Lido. When the time came I felt a bit better but was still fighting my cold so I was a little worried not to drink or eat too much because I was afraid that it might be coming back up during the show. I made it all the way through without having to run to the bathroom and also got somcce nice photos out of it. A few weeks later I talked a friend into letting me borrow his 50mm 1.2L lens to do a shooting with. I had met a model that I found online and we had arranged to do some photos together. We talked about doing some high fashion photos as well as some close up nudes. I was very excited to get to do the nudes because I wanted to see what this lens could do. The way I saw it we could do some indoor nudes and get a lot of detail with the lens and then head outside and do the high fashion shots as well as whatever she wanted to do. Long story short at one point she backed out of the photos before she agreed to to do them again. During this time I panicked and begged Sophie to do photos with me so I could get some use out of the lens before I had to return it. It turned out to be a busy week; one day with Sophie and the next day with Anais. We ended up doing the indoor nudes and didn't have time to do photos outside. I was really happy with the way things went, and I think she was too.

Marianne & Sophie

A couple of months ago I did a photo shot with a friend from work (Sophie) that I have done photos with before. She had a good time the last time that we did photos so we decided to try again. The problem with that night was that we did not have a lot of time to do the photos so it felt kind of rushed. We did some photos outside before it got too dark and too cold, then moved indoors. For this shoot we decided to do photos that were a little 'racier' than last time because we both felt like trying something different; no nudes, just less clothing than usual. It was fun but somewhat rushed. I had plans for a movie after but this was the only time that we were both free so we took advantage of that free time. I took many photos with my Canon 60D (too many) as well as a few with my Pentax (it was too dark to use it a lot). I used part of a role that I started with Caroline, and finished it off today (should get them back tomorrow). I haven't looked at all of the photos yet from that photo shoot and would have to talk to her before posting any to make sure she is OK with the one(s) that I would select. Yesterday I did a photo shoot with a friend (Marianne) who I had not seen in a while. She texted me last week saying that she wanted to do photos. She had a pair of shoes that she wanted to show off (Christian Louboutin), I wanted to show of her eyes. We got lucky and had a really nice day (cold but sunny). We started at Parc de Bercy and walked down along the Seine and ended up on a bridge before we called it a day and went home because it was too cold. She was a great model to work with, full of smiles and looked like she had a really good time. Did a lot of photos with the 60D, finished off the B&W from Caroline shoot, and started a new role of Kodak 400vc.
