Trip to Denver and Photos with Liv

I recently returned to Denver to prepare and open my art gallery at Red Rocks Community College. I arrived just under a week before the exhibit was to open and spent a lot of my time buying and cutting mats. The opening day went off well, finishing everything just in time. Not that many people showed up but did get to see a lot of my friends. I think they all enjoyed themselves. I just would have been nice if some people showed up that had heard about the show but didn't know me. The photos will be up for two more weeks so I'm hoping they will a lot of traffic. I received an email being informed that there would be an article in a local paper about my exhibit. Part of my plan for my trip was to meet up with a Denver model and try to add something different to my porfolio. I had gotten a hold of a few before I left; one about b&w and something different and interesting with the other. Long story short they both canceled along with about four other models that I had contacted. Liv then told me that she was interested in doing photos together and we set up a shoot. I went out and bought balloons only to walk out and find it raining. I thought that if I didn't call her than she would have to cancel and if she called too late I would have already been there and therefor too late to cancel. I had driven for a short while when I received the text asking if we should cancel. I lied about how bad the weather was were I was and hoped for the best.

Lido and Anais

Once again it has been a long time since I've added anything, I really need to update this more often. A few months ago I got myself really sick while doing a photo shoot. This does come around and make has to do with photography. So I was in bed for about two whole days not wanting to do anything. I had to recover quickly because a friend of mine arranged for me to be able to go back stage and take photos at the Lido. When the time came I felt a bit better but was still fighting my cold so I was a little worried not to drink or eat too much because I was afraid that it might be coming back up during the show. I made it all the way through without having to run to the bathroom and also got somcce nice photos out of it. A few weeks later I talked a friend into letting me borrow his 50mm 1.2L lens to do a shooting with. I had met a model that I found online and we had arranged to do some photos together. We talked about doing some high fashion photos as well as some close up nudes. I was very excited to get to do the nudes because I wanted to see what this lens could do. The way I saw it we could do some indoor nudes and get a lot of detail with the lens and then head outside and do the high fashion shots as well as whatever she wanted to do. Long story short at one point she backed out of the photos before she agreed to to do them again. During this time I panicked and begged Sophie to do photos with me so I could get some use out of the lens before I had to return it. It turned out to be a busy week; one day with Sophie and the next day with Anais. We ended up doing the indoor nudes and didn't have time to do photos outside. I was really happy with the way things went, and I think she was too.

Marianne & Sophie

A couple of months ago I did a photo shot with a friend from work (Sophie) that I have done photos with before. She had a good time the last time that we did photos so we decided to try again. The problem with that night was that we did not have a lot of time to do the photos so it felt kind of rushed. We did some photos outside before it got too dark and too cold, then moved indoors. For this shoot we decided to do photos that were a little 'racier' than last time because we both felt like trying something different; no nudes, just less clothing than usual. It was fun but somewhat rushed. I had plans for a movie after but this was the only time that we were both free so we took advantage of that free time. I took many photos with my Canon 60D (too many) as well as a few with my Pentax (it was too dark to use it a lot). I used part of a role that I started with Caroline, and finished it off today (should get them back tomorrow). I haven't looked at all of the photos yet from that photo shoot and would have to talk to her before posting any to make sure she is OK with the one(s) that I would select. Yesterday I did a photo shoot with a friend (Marianne) who I had not seen in a while. She texted me last week saying that she wanted to do photos. She had a pair of shoes that she wanted to show off (Christian Louboutin), I wanted to show of her eyes. We got lucky and had a really nice day (cold but sunny). We started at Parc de Bercy and walked down along the Seine and ended up on a bridge before we called it a day and went home because it was too cold. She was a great model to work with, full of smiles and looked like she had a really good time. Did a lot of photos with the 60D, finished off the B&W from Caroline shoot, and started a new role of Kodak 400vc.

Been a while

Ok, I know it's been a while but I haven't really taken that many photos recently. I did get my new 'baby' and have used it a bit at work but haven't really used it much since then. A couple of weeks ago I used it at the "Occupy Wallstreet" protest in Paris. I think I got some good photos, but I haven't really looked at them. It did get a little crazy when we got chased by the police and pushed aside. Today I did have a proper photo shoot with a model that I met on ModelMayhem.com. A friend of mine (Amanda) helped me by doing the make up. We did some shots in the metro and in the cemetery. I used my 60D and my pentax ME super. With the pentax I finished off my role of 160vc and started an Ilford 100. Still debating weather or not to develop the color film now or wait until i finish off the B&W.

My new baby

I finally grew up and got myself a new digital camera. I wanted to get one that would last me a while and something that wasn't just a nice camera but actually a really good camera. Kendal offered me her old camera if I wanted to pay to get it fixed, but after I played with her replacement camera...I couldn't take it. I ended up getting her replacement camera: a Canon 60D! It's so pretty, I love it! Yesterday I went out and took some photos with it and had so much fun. It's nice to have a nice camera who's photos can be seen right away. I still love film and will keep taking cameras with my Pentax but it's nice to have two options for cameras.

Working on my portfolio

Since I just got back a large number of photos I decided to finalize my model portfolio. I decided that it might be a good idea to get a portfolio together to take over the the design school and try to get some work by talking to their stylists and models. I put together 20 photos of different models that I thought would go over well with a crowd from the design school. I tried to get a nice mix of photos together: high fashion, candid, nudes, different lighting... It was difficult to narrow it down to 20 photos but I think I did a good job of picking the best ones. I printed them out on A4 paper (because I was told that they would fit the portfolio books nicely). I ended up getting a much larger book and will have to tape the photos in. All in all they all look really nice printed out in a large format.

Finally Using my Photo Studio

It has been a while since I have posted here, but this does not mean that I have not been taking photos. A few weeks ago Kendal went to a study to do some photos that she wanted to do. She had a coupon for a private photo shooting that she had to book a few months ago. She wanted to do a Josephine Baker shot. They had a make up artist but no one to do her hair, which she ended up doing by herself. In the end she was only allowed to pick one photo that she liked and they will have it touched up and printed and given to her in a few weeks. Since she could only keep one we decided to do an impromptu photo shot at my place so that we could take advantage of her hair and make up. Last we a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to join her for a midnight walk around Paris to take photos. Having it been a while since I took photos of Paris at night I decide to join and see what we could get. Turns out she didn't really want to take photos of Paris but more wanted me to take photos of her. I wish she had told me this before hand so that I would have been able to load faster film into my camera as well as bringing some b&w film. We got a few good photos but it was too dark to do anything that I really liked. Shortly after that I was able to use the photo studio that I've been working at for the first time with Kendal very quickly before I had to go to work. That first day we were rushed and got a few but not many, and most of which we used Kendal's Cannon 60D. We went back and did a few more using a different Cannon camera as well as my 100 & 3200 Ilford film. We got some that we both really liked from the Cannon and just recently picked up the film. Loved them.
